The NSLC is committed to offering career-focused leadership training for any and every high school student invited. Therefore, trips like our Alumni Service program can not only help those affected by these natural disasters, but also provide support to perspective students of the NSLC. All proceeds of these Alumni trips go directly toward the NSLF Scholarship Fund, providing need-based scholarships to some of our most qualified students, who without financial help, would not otherwise be able to attend.
The NSLC has partnered with the National Relief Network to make the Alumni Service Program possible. Since 1996, the National Relief Network has brought groups of volunteers to locations all over the country to aid in flood, fire, tornado, and hurricane relief. NRN volunteers come from high schools, colleges, churches, corporations, and civic organizations.
The NRN has responded to the attacks of September 11; Hurricanes Floyd, Camilla, Lily, Isabel, Charlie, Ivan, Dennis, and Katrina; flooding in Ohio, North Dakota, North Carolina, New Jersey, Georgia, Minnesota, Missouri, Virginia, West Virginia, and Iowa; tornadoes in Kentucky, Kansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana; and forest fires in California.
Each evening you will work with nationally-renowned leadership trainer, Robert Pruitt, to discover and develop the skills and techniques needed to serve your community on a greater level. You will learn how to develop and manage your own service projects as you identify the needs of your community.

During your time in New Orleans, you will also have an opportunity to relax and reconnect with your fellow students as you explore one of America’s great cities. Sightseeing trips may include:
